The Warner Bros. Minecraft movie has been given a new director... again. Variety reports that Peter Sollett is now on board to compose and direct the long-awaited movie, which was initially scheduled to be released in May of this year. But, the film has faced delays, in part due to director change-ups. In the past, Rob McElhenney (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) was originally scheduled to direct the film, but he resigned from the project last August. He was also taking over from Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) who quit in 2014.

Sollett directed 2002's Raising Victor Vargas and 2008's Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. He's also received acclaim for his work on the short film Five Feet High and Rising. Mojang Minecraft's developer, is reportedly still involved in the making of the film.

Warner Bros. scored the rights to the Minecraft film back in 2014, and the issue is whether Minecraft will still attract the viewers it might have years ago. minecraft While it's not known when the movie will be released, there's an opportunity that it could, with a new director.
