Kieślowski and Krzysztof Piesiewicz created a script that was probably the first part of the trilogy. After the master's death, his partner finished the script, and now Tom Tykwer, a young and talented German director, has translated it onto the screen. This is how "Heaven" was created.
The film shows a story straight from an American sensational film.
Bomb, prison, love, escape appear on screens quite often nowadays. However, the way the story is presented, the photos, the music create the mood of the European production. The scenes that would be the most effective in an American film, and that would become an opportunity for the masters of special effects to show off, were presented here discreetly, symbolically. The death of four people is not a scream, blood and broken glass, it is only noise and light that appears in the slit of the door. In heaven, all the action and events stand in the background. The psychological aspect, feelings and sensations are more important. They were shown through frequent close-ups of the characters' faces. We observe their eyes, the movements of the facial muscles. Thanks to the camera, we can see their souls. It is not only the merit of the cinematographers, but mainly actors who convey their feelings in a masterly manner. I am talking here specifically about Giovanni Ribisi, for whom this role seems to be written. His face, figure and movements show the psyche of this shy young man. It's a little different with Cate Blanchet. We never really know what her character is thinking. She is hidden, withdrawn, and at the same time unhappy and tired of life. Philippa hardly smiles during the course of the movie. The young actress perfectly shows the attitude to the world presented by this character. Pay attention to everything when watching a movie. Because everything in this film means something.

As befits Kieślowski's work, it is saturated with symbols and contrasts. The color of the clothes, the place of shelter are all important in the reception of the film.
Light is also important here, as it hides evil, does not expose it.
Sometimes, however, it does not light, but illuminates certain scenes.
A kind of symbol in the film is the soft music. The focus would also be on the title, how it was presented, which means.
After all, drugs, bombs, murder are not heaven.
Philippa is not a God who makes the final judgment, and Fillipo, despite his innocence, does not look like an angel.
Love, that's what heroes' paradise is. He enters him right away, she has to do "earthly errands" beforehand, confess her sin and together they go "as high as you can fly".
Lovely photos, nice (yes, that's the right word - nice) story, showing that love will overcome everything, overcome impossible obstacles. Even in the terrible world of that time, it has a chance of survival. She appears where no one expects her. Suddenly comes surprise, taking the victims with it. However, I honestly admit, I expected something deeper, stronger, just better. Kieślowski's name suggests something really "deep" and this film was, despite its American motives, so simple. Maybe heaven is so simple, easy and waiting for us on Earth?
