We have seen a rise in videogames using the creation of content in game as their main mode of play. Minecraft Although existing literature has looked into the various aspects of these games, one of their aspects that merits further study is the practices of monetisation that can emerge in their context. Through our ongoing ethnographic study we came across the market for commissions that is thriving in Minecraft's creative community. Our findings reveal three principal players in this market: the customers, who own Minecraft servers; the contractors, who handle the clients' orders of Minecraft maps and the builders who are the ones responsible for the creation of these maps. Our research has proven that the commodity at stake is not in-game content as one might think, but rather the service of creating it. These results suggest that commissioning within Minecraft - a well-organised process, driven and sustained only by players of the community - plays a significant part in the game's current structure.
