Minecraft Gets its Own Official Monthly Swag Box

Monthly subscription boxes are a novel concept. Subscribers pay a fee to receive t-shirts as well as other merchandise. For a monthly fee of $30, Mojang says it will send subscribers a unique "Mine Chest" full of "hand-picked official Minecraft goodies." Yery While the exact contents aren't known, Mojang says that customers can expect to receive a t-shirt, crafting recipe, and other collectibles every month.



MineCon 2015 saw the unveiling of the Mine Chest for the first time. Mojang offered 5,000 beta keys to attendees to aid them in securing their first boxes. The Mine Chest is now accessible to everyone. While it sounds like the ideal present for any Minecraft player However, it comes with a few stipulations.



Mojang first requires that customers choose a monthly plan. This is billed in advance and deliveries won't begin until the month of May. The company claims that paying up front helps it better serve its customers by purchasing high-quality items in greater quantities to reduce costs. Each month, the Mine Chest will be charged $7 shipping. Mine Chests are only available in the US at this time. Mojang is blaming high shipping costs for its exclusivity, but says it is "working extremely hard" to lower them.
