Minecraft film'set to hit silver screen'

The block-building game Minecraft, which is hugely popular, could soon be made into a movie.



Markus Persson, Minecraft creator, revealed this week that Warner Brothers was in conversation with him regarding the Minecraft project.



Mr. Persson said he revealed the details to deter an individual who tried to leaked details about the transaction.



Movie news site Deadline revealed that one of the producers for the Lego Movie is in charge of the project. MINECRAFT SERVERS MINECRAFT SERVERS



Warner was planning to make the "live action" version of the game into a feature film, said Deadline.



The film is still in its early stages, as Warner has just acquired the rights to Minecraft's iconic characters blocks, monsters, and blocks.



The announcement comes less than two weeks after Minecraft creator Mojang took action to end a Kickstarter project that sought to raise funds for a film based off the game.



Hollywood has a history of remaking top-selling games for film. Many projects do not get to the stage of production.



A film based on the science-fictional Halo universe, for example is in development for nine years but filming has not yet begin despite numerous scripts being written.



Similar films based on Bioshock and Gears of War have been discussed however there is no film that has begun shooting.



World of Warcraft is a game that is being made into a movie. Filming began in January with Duncan Jones, a British director. The film is expected to be released in early 2016.
