Hugely popular block-building game Minecraft could soon be turned into a film.

Minecraft creator Markus Persson revealed this week that the game's maker was talking to Warner Brothers about the project. best games

Persson claimed that he disclosed the information to stop another trying to leak information about it.

Movie news site Deadline revealed that one of the producers of the recently released Lego Movie is handling the project.

Warner was planning to make the "live action" version of the game into a feature film the company told Deadline.

The film is in its early stages, as Warner has just purchased the rights for Minecraft's iconic characters, blocks, and monsters.

The news is less than two weeks after Minecraft creator Mojang has taken action to shut down the Kickstarter project seeking to raise money for an animated film based on the game. gaming news

Hollywood has a history of remaking best-selling games for film. Many projects do not get to the production stage.

A film based on the science-fictional Halo universe, for example has been in development for the past nine years, but filming has yet to begin despite a variety of scripts being written.

Films based on Bioshock, Gears of War and Metal Gear Solid Work have all been talked about but none of them has yet begun filming. gaming news

One game that is being made into a movie is World of Warcraft, filming began in the latter part of January, with British director Duncan Jones in charge. The film is expected to be released in early 2016.
